Discovery of SAS-2 Well by PT Sele Raya Belida Successfully Uncovers New Oil and Gas Reserves
14 Apr 2022
PT Sele Raya Belida, as the operator of the Belida Working Area (WK Belida), has once again achieved a significant milestone in oil and gas exploration. Following its successful discovery at the Sungai Anggur Selatan-1 well in 2022, the company continued its exploration efforts by completing the drilling of the Sungai Anggur Selatan (SAS)-2 well in August 2025.
The SAS-2 well is located in the southern part of WK Belida, specifically in Tapus Village, Lembak District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province. The drilling resulted in the discovery of oil and gas reserves within a new reservoir layer that had not been identified in the SAS-1 well.
The SAS-2 well demonstrated a production capability of 3,856 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 3.257 MMSCFD of gas.
Head of Program and Communication Division of SKK Migas, Hudi Suryodipuro, expressed his appreciation for this achievement. He highlighted that the discovery represents positive progress toward increasing national production and strengthens optimism in achieving the target of 1 million BOPD of oil and 12 BSCFD of gas by 2030. He also expects this discovery to contribute through Early Production by the end of 2025.
PT Sele Raya Belida emphasized that all drilling activities were conducted safely with zero incidents, prioritizing safety at every stage. The company is currently coordinating with SKK Migas to accelerate production, targeting Early Production in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Technically, the well has undergone comprehensive geological and geophysical data acquisition, including wireline logging, Side Wall Core (SWC), Reservoir Data Testing (RDT), and Drill Stem Test (DST). The results identified an oil and gas column of approximately 39 feet, confirming strong production potential.
The Head of SKK Migas Southern Sumatra Representative Office, Yunianto, stated that this achievement reflects strong collaboration among stakeholders in supporting the government’s energy self-sufficiency program.
This success is expected to open further opportunities for new oil and gas discoveries in WK Belida and surrounding areas, contributing to increased production and national energy resilience.
